College of Public and Community Service research material, 1970-1984 (bulk, 1970-1975).

This collection consists of original and copies of CPCS correspondence and reports, and of Taylor's correspondence, research and interview notes, clippings, and diary entries. Taylor used much of this material for his 1975 Rutgers University Ph. D dissertation, "Planning an Urban Experimental College: A Case Study of the CPCS," which covers the founding and early history of UMass/Boston, and CPCS. A copy of the thesis is also available in the Archives Department. The material Taylor collected after writing his dissertation provides some information about CPCS from 1975 through 1984.
